TheraTogs™

TheraTogs™ are a system of compression undergarments and straps that can be worn to help provide improved body awareness, joint alignment, and postural stability for children with sensorimotor impairments. TheraTogs™ were designed and developed by Beverly Cusick, PT, MS. The system consists of a tank top and shorts made of a flexible, breathable material that are worn under a child's clothing, as well as elastic straps that are arranged to help facilitate more optimal joint alignment and postural stability according to the individual child's needs.

Some indications for wearing TheraTogs™ include:

  • Ataxia
  • Hypotonia
  • Athetosis
  • Weakness
  • In-toed or Out-toed gait
  • Joint laxity
  • Joint deviations
  • Muscle recruitment problems
  • Sensory integration issues
  • Postural Malalignment
  • Muscle imbalance

At Kids Can Do, we have three sizes of TheraTogs™ that are able to fit most ages of children. This allows us to try TheraTogs™ on a child during his or her therapy session in order to evaluate their effectiveness with that particular child. If the therapist feels that wearing TheraTogs™ would be beneficial for that child, she can recommend for the child to purchase his or her own TheraTogs™ system to wear every day. Some insurances may cover the TheraTogs™ system.
