October 2010

October is National Physical Therapy month!

To kick off PT month, Kids Can Do, Inc. walked on October 3rd to raise money for United Cerebral Palsy of Illinois Prairieland at Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm through the challenging “Chicago Wins 2010” Cornfield Maze.

In addition, to honor PT month, Kids Can Do, Inc. and Soles4Soles will be collecting your gently worn footwear and/or donations to ship the shoes to a person in need, whether they are victims of a natural disaster or subject to living in extreme poverty. It is estimated that Americans have 1.5 billion pairs of unused shoes lying in their closets. The charity can use each and every one of these pairs to make a tangible difference in someone's life. Please bring your gently worn shoes to our waiting room donation box during the month of October.

August 2010

On August 19th, Kids Can Do, Inc. teamed up with the Lincoln-Way East football team to offer an hour session for kids with special needs. This allowed for the kids to experience a day in the life of a high school football player. Throughout the hour, the kids were able to learn stretches, how to tackle, how to catch/throw a football and run in for a touchdown. Not only did the kids have smiles on their faces, but the football players did as well! It was a great opportunity for the players along with the kids. Thank you to the LWE football team and Coach David Pammer for this wonderful opportunity!

Team Kids Can Do walked on May 18th to raise money for Autism research and awareness. The walk, organized by Autism Speaks and Cure Autism Now, took place at Soldier Field and raised over $1.4 million.

July

July 14, 2007 - Thank you to all of the families that joined us at our Grand Opening! A big Thank You to Reptile Rampage, Drama Queens, All About Music, Happy Jumper, and Magic Mike for making our special day a success!

December - Kid’s Holiday Party

Get ready for our annual Kid’s Holiday Party for all of our clients!!  Santa will definitely be here…along with gingerbread house construction, penguin bowling, “snowball” toss, crafts, prizes, and a host of other really fun things to do!!
